Mushroom Burger

Savory mushroom burger that is great for all occasions. You can make these ahead of time and just sear them off to warm them up during a party and they will be perfect. They are so great for parties because you can smoke them ahead of time knowing they'll be fully cooked. Just give them a quick sear to get up to temperature during the party and you are good to go!

Mushroom Burger

Ingredients

  • 8oz - Mushroom (white button)
  • 1lb - Ground beef
  • 3oz - Pulled Pork
  • 1 - Yellow Onion (large)
  • 1 tbsp - Worcestershire
  • 1 tsp - Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp - Mushroom Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp - Garlic Jalapeno Rub
  • 1/2 tbsp - Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Chop onions and carmelize in a pan.
  2. Finely dice mushrooms and saute in a pan until water is evaporated. Around 10 minutes
  3. Let mushrooms cool and then mix with ground beef and all of the spices. Work with your hands until sticky.
  4. Form 6 flat patties around 5oz each.
  5. Indent a large circle in each patty leaving about a half an inch of room on the ends.
  6. Fill 3 of the patties with 1oz of pulled pork each.
  7. Flip the other 3 patties onto the filled patties and pinch to seal them.
  8. Season with salt and pepper or whatever burger seasoning you like.
  9. Smoke for around 1 hours at 250f with any hardwood.
  10. When done, let rest for 5 minutes.
  11. Sear using preferred method for about a minute and a half for each side. Could be cast iron, grill, open flame, etc.
  12. Build your burger the way you like and include the carmelized onions for the umami flavor.
